Dec 01, 2017 · Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a nontoxic and thermoplastic polymer which is completely biodegradable. PVA shows excellent mechanical and thermal properties due to better interfacial adhesion with reinforcing material such as fibers, particles or flakes because of which it can be used for fabrication of composite. PVA based fiber or particle reinforcing composites have gained interest in Estimation of structural and mechanical properties of Cadmium Sulfide (CdS) nanoparticles have been synthesized by hydrothermal method, and dispersed in varying amounts by weight, in Poly Vinyl Alcohol (PVA) matrix. Subsequently, PVA/CdS nanocomposite films have been characterized and analyzed to estimate CdS nanoparticles effect on the properties of PVA films. Both mechanical and structural properties have been considered for the analysis.
Tensile strength values of un-filled PVA films having 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4wt% nanocellulose exhibited 38.7, 49.1, 50, 64.1 and 58.8MPa respectively (Table 1). Jul 11, 2011 · Thermal properties of PVA and its composite with CuCl2 films of various concentrations are measured using photoacoustic (PA) technique at room temperature. Analysis of PA results show that the thermal diffusivity and hence thermal conductivity of composites PVA:CuCl2 increases as the content of CuCl2 increases.
